Hi, I’m Julia

Nutritionist, personal trainer, traveller, and the woman behind Escape with Julia.

I created Escape with Julia because I wanted something I couldn’t quite find myself.

Not a hardcore fitness camp. Not a retreat where every minute is scheduled. And definitely not five days of green juice, early bedtimes and trying to become a “new you”.

I wanted the kind of escape I’d actually want to go on.

Somewhere beautiful. Good training. New places to explore. Sunshine. Great company. A little adventure. And plenty of time to actually enjoy being away.

That’s what Escape with Julia is about.

What I bring with me

Behind the holidays, sunshine and workouts, there is a pretty solid professional background.

I have a Master’s degree in Nutrition & Behaviour, I’m a Registered Associate Nutritionist (ANutr) and a Level 3 qualified Personal Trainer. I’m also trained in coaching and have experience across nutrition, behaviour change, fitness and business coaching.

My work has taken me from supporting people with their nutrition and long-term health goals to coaching women in the gym, running workshops and group sessions, and managing a women’s fitness space.

I’m particularly interested in the bit where knowledge meets real life. I love the science, but I’m much more interested in making it useful. I don’t believe health needs to be complicated, extreme or perfect to make a difference.

And while Escape is absolutely a holiday rather than a classroom, everything I bring to it comes with that professional experience behind it.

How I train

I work with women every day, and strength training is a big part of what I do. I love helping women realise just how strong and capable they actually are — but I also like training to be fun.

My sessions tend to mix strength with higher-energy conditioning, so expect to lift, move, get your heart rate up and probably have a laugh somewhere in between.

Most importantly, I don't expect everyone to train in the same way. We all arrive with different experience, fitness levels, bodies and confidence, so exercises can always be adapted. You can be challenged without feeling completely out of your depth.

There will be opportunities to push yourself, but Escape isn't about smashing yourself every morning before breakfast.

We’re here to train — but we’re also very much here to enjoy the holiday.

Why I created Escape

One of my favourite things about my work is working with women.

Put a group of women together and everyone brings something different — different experiences, careers, stories, personalities and perspectives. I genuinely think we have so much to learn from one another.

I've seen that energy through my work. Women encourage each other, share things, laugh together and often give each other confidence without even realising they're doing it.

That's a huge part of why I created Escape with Julia.

I wanted to create the opportunity to step away from normal life for a few days, move our bodies, see somewhere new, try things, relax and spend time with other women we might never otherwise have met.

You can come with a friend, but you absolutely don't need to.

Sometimes the best part of going somewhere new is who you end up sharing it with.
